Family Law

You have a choice when it comes to selecting the right family law attorney for your case. Many attorneys are generalists and practice several different types of law other than family law. The attorneys and staff at Margolin Family Law focus almost exclusively on all aspects of family law. Our full-service practice includes divorce, legal separation, high-asset marriage dissolution, low to high-conflict custody and parenting time disputes, establishment and modification of child support and spousal support, family law appeals, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement of existing agreements, restraining orders.  We can help with simple and complex cases, and all aspects of family law, from consultation and planning through mediation and settlement or trial.

Family Law Appeals

Divorce can be a complicated process and sometimes when the process is over, one or both parties may not be satisfied with the judge’s ruling. Either party may choose to appeal the trial court’s decision. Daniel Margolin clerked at the Oregon Court of Appeals as his first job out of law school in 2002. Since then, for over 20 years, he has maintained an appellate practice filing and arguing appeals at both the Oregon Court of Appeals and the Oregon Supreme Court. Xian Ling Woram began working with Daniel in the firm’s appellate practice as a law clerk while attending law school in 2017 and has continued her appellate practice as a licensed attorney since 2020.

Estate Planning & Elder Law

Planning for the future can seem daunting.  Our elder law and estate planning practice, led by our attorney Erin Holbrook Johnson, aims to assist clients of all ages and needs in planning for the future, protecting assets, and communicating your wishes to your loved ones.  Our goal is to help you prepare the documents that will allow your loved ones or trusted representatives to manage your assets, your care, and follow your wishes when you’re no longer able to direct them; and to provide you with some peace of mind along the way.  Our services include estate planning, incapacity planning, long-term care planning, and assistance with Medicaid.  Services may include the drafting of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, releases, deeds, and caregiving agreements, among other things, depending on your needs.  It’s never too early to start thinking about the future.
